Musical Accompaniment

Lately, I've been soaping to Dead Can Dance. Partly because it's Halloween time, but also because I just loooooooove dark classical like music. It's soothing, but dramatic and the perfect thing to have in the background when I am working. Occasionally, I'll pop in some old school punk. Also fun to soap to is A Tribe Called Quest.

Soapers, tell me about your "soap" track!

Halloween Soaps!

I've just finished 2 new seasonal soaps and they are pretty delicious. Or should I say demonicious?

Hardcore Punk-In Pie [Pumpkin Pie scented soap with crushed apricot seed exfoliant. Dyed with Turmeric, which is excellent for your skin]

Kandy Korn [Candy Corn scented soap with fun stripes of orange and yellow]

The Halloween Soap Stack will include Hardcore Punk-In Pie, Kandy Korn, Carrie (Strawberries and Cream), and Fade to Black (Licorice).

All items will be available in our on line store and on etsy tomorrow!

Cambridge Naturals Demo

I thought I would let you all know that I will be conducting a little demo at Cambridge Naturals on December 4th, 7:00-8:30 PM. It's a ways away, but if you are interested, pencil it into your calender. Or whatever modern day device you use!

Items I will be creating during the demo:

[whipped shea body butter]

[bath bombs]

Cambridge Naturals is a super cool store in Porter Square, Cambridge. I purchase several of my materials from their shop.

Bad Brains Soap Revealed!

Here are the new Bad Brains soaps - as I expected the red did not come out as red as I would have liked and the perfect swirl was nearly impossible, but I am still very pleased with the results.

Block Island Day

In a blog crossover moment, I am directing you to my other blog, where I just posted about our awesome trip to Block Island (Rhode Island's Martha's Vineyard, but much nicer). Click here for more pics!

By the way, the Bad Brains soap is pretty funky. I will be posting pics of it this morning!

Craft Critic Review

Craft Critic just published a very nice review of Stella Marie! Take a look-see.

Pimped Out Soap Workshop!

Stella Marie has made her full transition to Providence. Behold!

Here is the basement before we tore up the carpeting, cleared out the clutter and painted the walls and floor. Note: Very outdated.

After! Plenty of storage, nice and bright! A much more functional space. Jere painted the Stella Marie logo on the wall. He did a really good job :)

A big girl shelving unit for soap storage!

So much easier! The soaps are very happy.

What soapmaking area is complete without ye ole Fight Club poster? The movie that made soapmaking cool.

It's a little self-indulgent, but I just had to paint flames on my stick blender.

When I need a rest, I can just mosey over to the other side of the basement and take a break next to my Pixies quilt, made by my friend, Kara.

And speaking of the Pixies ... Here Comes Your Soap makes it's debut! Kiwi scented. Glittery dust on top:

Bad Brains soap pictures to come!

We Made It!

At long last, we have arrived and (almost fully) unpacked. The basement has undergone a huge renovation for the soap workshop. I am writing from our backyard at the moment (stealing internet access from someone's wireless network). We won't have full access until Thursday. I will post lots of pictures, including the Bad Brains and Pixies soaps! And Stella Marie news, too!

Sorry for the spotty posts, folks. More very soon!
