[I love fresh roses. My grandma Stella was a huge fan of them, too. She planted several rose bushes in my parents' yard that still bloom today. I would really like to try this facial.]

Rose Face Mask for Combination Skin*
This mask, based on roses, is perfect for balancing out the oily and dry areas of your skin.

Ingredients:

• 6 fresh rose petals
• 2 tbsps rosewater
• 1 tbsp natural yogurt, room temperature (not lowfat or non-fat)
• 1 tbsp runny honey (to get honey runny, you can warm it in a microwave for a few seconds).

Preparation:

1. Soak rose petals, then crush them in a bowl.
2. Add the rosewater, yogurt and honey.
3. Mix well and apply to the skin.
4. Leave on for 10 minutes.
5. Rinse.

Lemon Lip Balm

Home Facial 1

During the spa parties that I work, I offer 2 types of complimentary facials. One is an avocado yogurt facial (containing: avocado, plain greek yogurt, fresh squeezed lemon juice) and the other is a honey, oatmeal facial (containing: honey, a splash of milk and ground oatmeal). They are easy, safe for all skin types and really good for you! I am a big fan of DIY fresh facials, so I thought it might be a nice idea to share some good recipes I find here and there. In these difficult economic times, not many people can justify a trip to the spa.

Homemade Juice Mask (for oily skin)*
Strawberry and lemon juice contain natural astringents. Note: Recipe works for two people, so invite a friend, or cut recipe in half for just you.

Ingredients:

• 1 tsp lemon juice
• 2 egg whites
• 3 tsp honey
• 1 cup strawberries
• Optional: 4 drops of your favorite essential oils

Preparation:

1. Mash or blend the above ingredients.
2. Smooth over face.
3. Let it stay for 10 minutes.
4. Rinse.

Farm Fresh Rhode Island

Beginning June 5th, Stella Marie will be appearing at the Downtown Farmer's Market in Providence. Friday afternoons, from 12 to 2, right beside Kennedy Plaza, in the heart of the financial district! The market runs deep into September, so swing on by one Friday, if you are around.
